California Common Core State Standards (CCSS)

California's Common Core State Standards for English and mathematics remodel the state's education system. They replace outdated ways of learning, keep the best of what we have, and help students learn step-by-step the skills they need to receive a world-class education. Children will participate in hands-on learning, which helps them develop the critical thinking and analytical skills they need to deal with an ever-changing world.

History & Social Science Framework

There are no new standards for History-Social Science currently.  The curriculum framework was adopted by the State Board of Education on July 14, 2016.  The new Framework emphasizes the development of student content knowledge, discipline-specific inquiry, student literacy, and citizenship.   In the grade-level course descriptions, for example, content is organized around student-centered questions of significance, and includes discipline-specific support for student reading, writing and oral discourse.
